Chapter 4
~
The next morning, both Edward & Alphonse got ready for work at the normal time. A few minutes before they headed out, Avea held Ed back in the hallway next to their bedroom door. She leaned against the wall, arms wrapped around his strong shoulders. Ed supported himself with one hand on the wall, eyes locked onto hers. Avea tilted her head to the side & smiled at her lover's serious expression. After a second, his teeth showed in a small grin & he leaned in. Avea closed her eyes & they shared a passionate kiss. The younger Alchemist parted his lips & their tongues met, twinning sensually. Avea moaned and their mouths moved apart after a moment, faces flushed light pink.
"I'll see you at 7 tonight, 'kay?" Ed asked as he moved away from the wall, holding Avea to his chest. She hummed & nodded, still smiling.
"It's a plan, my man." Avea said, rhyming her words so that he chuckled. Ed gently removed her arms from around his neck & winked.
"Alright. Stay golden." He said & they headed to the front door together. Alphonse gave Avea a light hug good-bye & went out first. Ed slipped on his long, brown coat & readjusted his gloves before picking up the leather-bound folder of work papers. He started to follow his brother out the door, but stopped short as he felt a tug on his coat tails. Ed looked around & saw Avea's hand slipping from the fabric. She gazed up at him again, deep blue eyes staring into his amber.
"I love you, Edward." Avea said softly & he patted the top of her head with one hand.
"I love you too." Ed replied with a smile then turned & left the apartment. Avea locked the door, sighing longingly. She really missed the days when she was a State Alchemist, traveling around the country & doing research at Central's library on finding ways to pull Ed back through The Gate. The problem here in Munic was that there were no jobs for woman that fit the skills that Avea had. She occasionally would help Ms. Gracia out in her flower shop, but it wasn't enough to satisfy her. Now Avea stayed at home most days to look after the apartment. It had been a while that they had begun living there & she could tell that Edward would soon want to take off again & was still willing to go anywhere with him. The man had a hard time staying in one place for long, as it was in his nature to keep moving forward. The fact that Ed had managed to live in Munic for as long as they had was somewhat astounding. Avea stood out on the balcony & gazed at the city before her. People moved along on the streets below, talking & so on as they lived their own lives. She slipped a small locket out from under her blouse & stared at it. It was crafted of silver & iron, an authentic Philosopher's Stone in the core. Avea's thumb trembled as it ran over the gleaming, red rock. Within it, she knew were the essence of not just chemicals, but human souls. Avea had never told Ed or Al about the cursed object ever since she grabbed it from the underground city the day the flying ship attacked Central. Avea feared that if the brothers knew she had a stone, they would say terrible things or think less of her. It would forever be her secret from the world. She wasn't sure why she held onto the cursed thing. In the back of her mind, Avea hoped it would come into use for good someday... Maybe.

~The End~
Here we have the last chapater of a romantic/drama story I came up with a few years ago. I am not new to writing romance & consider this to be my best yet. If you have any questions about Avea, please ask in a comment. Any focusing on the nature of bullying me about my original character will be deleted.

Why does the ending have more views than the rest of the story?!
