Hello Stranger: Introducton

Ness woke up to the sound of her cell phone going off. She leaned over to the bed side table, cat jumping off the mattress as she picked it up. Ness yawned then slide her thumb along the screen to answer.
"Hello?" She said, trying not to sound tired even though she'd just awoken.
"Hi, Ness. Sorry I woke you up. I got a call from Mom that we need to go to her place. I'm getting ready to come pick you up." Her younger sister Mad said. Ness groaned as she wiped sleep from here eyes & sat up.
"Whyyy? I'm sleeping!" She complained as she looked over at her cat watching her talk.
"I don't know, but she said it's super important that you come. See you soon!" Mad replied & Ness just made a 'mmmph' sound before they hung up with each other. Ness yawned again & stretched, arching her back upwards.
"Mommy has to go out early, hun. Grammy said so." She told the cat, who was now walking over to her food dish.
Ness took a quick shower, got dressed & was sipping on a mug of black tea when she heard a familiar knock on the front door. She slipped on her boots & answered it. Ness's younger sister's tired yet serious face greeted her.
"You ready?" Mad asked & the elder of the 2 just hummed again. Ness grabbed her keys, coat & said bye to the little cat, who was sitting nearby watching again.

After a couple of minutes, the sisters pulled into the driveway of their mother's house & walked up together to the side door, snow crunching beneath their boots. Even though she was tired, Ness grinned big & waved to her dog when she appeared in the door's window. The medium-sized black & white German Shepard mix howled & barked excitedly as Mad knocked on the door. Their mom grabbed Daisy's collar & held the dog in place as she opened the door & the girls stepped in.
"Thank goodness you're here! I didn't know who else to call!" Their mom said as she & Ness hugged. Mad & her frowned worriedly at this. She grabbed Mad's shoulder & directed her to the front room.
"Mad, please go keep Emma company while Steve & I talk to Ness. Please don't bother us." She almost begged of her younger daughter & Mad hesitantly agreed. As she & Daisy went up front Steve, their mom's husband, walked into the kitchen.
"Hey, Ness. Good morning." He greeted her. His tone was calm, but Ness could tell he was troubled as well.
"Good morning. What is going on? You 2 are starting to freak me out." She said while looking between the 2 of them. Ness's mom was about to reply, but the sound of someone shifting & letting out the sound of clearing their throat from the den interrupted them.
"Ness, I called you here so early because we need your help. This seemed to be your area of expertise." She said nervously as they went into the back room. Ness was feeling anxious now. What the heck could she be talking about? Ness bit her lip & froze up when she saw the house guest sitting on the couch whom had been hiding in the den.
"This is Dizz." Steve said as the stranger sat up straight on the middle of the couch, nervously gripping a mug of hot chocolate in his glove-clad hands. Ness couldn't look away from him. Dizz was pale, skinny, about the age of 20 with short brown hair & had no eyes. In their place, were a long pair of stalks that were curled inwards & trembling slightly. She didn't know what to think. This was like something out of one of her Animorphs books. Still feeling stunned, Ness carefully slide onto a spot beside Dizz & looked him over. He looked just like a normal, young man. The only things that were out of place were his enormous, pink ears & face. Ness swallowed & was able to find her voice again.
"Hello. My name is Ness. Are you feeling ok?" She asked the young man. His knees quivered as he set the hot beverage onto the coffee table & took off one of the black leather gloves. Ness gazed down at Dizz's hands as the left one reached over to her & she raised hers so that he could take it. She noticed that his thumb & first 2 fingers were yellow, like the orbs that were attached to the end of his facial stalks. These fingers didn't have nails on them & skin felt very soft as they massaged & ran along her right  hand & wrist. Ness had met blind people before & knew that he was just feeling her out.
"Hi, I'm-I'm not sure. Um, can you help me? I don't know where I am." Dizz was able to get out as his fingers trailed across the back of Ness's hand now. His voice was medium-pitched & sounded smooth, even though he was whispering. She glanced over to Steve & her mom who were just watching, then back to the stranger.
"Yes. I'll do my best to help you, Dizz. I'm here for you." Ness replied truthfully & he sighed with relief. Dizz picked the mug of coca back up & drank from it. His facial stalks uncurled & waved around slightly. It seemed that Dizz had been holding back before out of fear. Hearing such kind words had finally been able to relax him in this unfamiliar place.
